Roxas City, Capiz Halaran Festival 2012

Roxas City and the Province of Capiz will be celebrating the Halaran Festival 2012 on December 6-8, 2012.

This cultural and religious celebration is also known as Sinadya sa Halaran, it as a joint festival of the City of Roxas and the Province of Capiz to commemorate the Feast of the Virgin of the Immaculate Concepcion which is the patroness of the City of Roxas.

Sinadya sa Halaran boasts the colorful activities like the grand parade of festivals, the fluvial parade, and the lighted river floaters. There is also the traditional seafood festival and the grand pyrotechnic display.

The highlights of the celebration are the Dancing Parade, ”Higantes”, Fluvial Parade, Fireworks display, Mutya sa Halaran beauty pageant, Coronation of the Fiesta Queen, and Agri-Aqua Trade Fair.

Iloilo Chinese New Year 2012

Based on the Chinese Calendar, Chinese New Year falls on January 23, 2012, and this was declared as special non working holiday in the Philippines.

In Iloilo City, the Ilonggos also observe and celebrate Chinese New Year every third week of January, it is celebrated in Iloilo’s Chinatown (Iznart St.). Iloilo Chinese New Year Celebration is highlighted by a Colorful Cultural Parade by Chinese Organizations, Schools, and Business Sectors. There are a lot of activities for this week long celebration.
