Last December 10-14, 2012 i was again invited by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippine (AACCUP) to be one of the accreditor for the BSIT program of the Leyte Normal University, Tacloban City.
This is my second time to visit LNU, the first time i visited it was during my accreditor’s training. Eight programs were submitted for accreditation, BSHAE and BSHRM for 3rd survey, ABCom, BSHTM, BSSW and MA Math Ed for 2nd survey, Master in English, and BSIT for 1st survey and 17 accreditors were assigned.
I was in-charge to be the team leader of the BSIT Program in charge of Area I the VMGO, and Area III Curriculum and Instruction.
Day 1 – December 11, was the courtesy call to the President, Dr. Evelyn Cruzada who is also an Ilonggo who came from Oton, Iloilo. After the courtesy call, we have the opening program, and meeting with the local counterpart for evaluation of documents.
Day 2 – December 12, was the continuation of evaluation of documents, interview with the students, alumni, staff, and stakeholders. Visiting extension sites, physical plants and facilities, and laboratories.
Day 3 – December 13, was the validation of documents, class observation, meeting with accreditors, and report preparation.
Day 4 – December 14, was the exit conference and closing program. We also had a short trip with in leyte, visiting the Sto. Nino Shrine, MacArthur Park, San Juanico Bridge, and bought some souvenir items.
Rendering services to examine the school system, check the documents to improve their process and ensuring that quality education were given to the students is the task of being an accreditor, and the trust given by the school to look into their system is a big responsibility.
It was indeed another experience to be one of the accreditor for LNU, the accommodation is nice, very hospitable faculty and staff, supportive President, free flowing food are just a few things i like.
They said that every time you visit Leyte, as what Gen. Douglas Macarthur said, “I Shall Return”, you shall really return to the place. Thanks a lot LNU for having us in your University.
