Worried about retrieving your Contacts on Lost Phone or Sim? Smart introduces SIMSafe

Have you experienced losing your phone or sim? In this event, we are not worried about the lost unit, but most of the concern is the contacts saved on our phone and sim. Worry no more, Smart introduces their newest service, the Smart SIMSafe service for prepaid subscribers.

SIMsafe gives the following benefits:

  • FREE replacement of the lost sim with the same mobile number
  • Ability to back up your contacts and download them to your new phone (Phone dependent)
  • Disabling of lost SIM to prevent it from being used

How to avail of SIMSafe?

Registration is easy. Just follow these simple steps.

  1. To register, text REG and send to 7467. (P1/msg)
  2. You will receive a text message outlining the next steps needed in the registration process. To confirm your registration, simply text the following to 7467 (P120/msg):

Agree <space> password <space> first name <space> last name <space> email

Example: Agree mypassword yourfirstname yourlastname youremail@mail.com and send to 7467.

“You will be charged of Php120(seems big enough?), but this will give a yearlong coverage. If you lose your SIM within a year of registration, Smart will give you a free replacement SIM with your old number. P10 a month is all it takes to save you the trouble of getting a new number and telling everyone to update your contact information,” said Smart Portfolio Management head Chito Bustamante.

The SIMSafe application is also available for Nokia and Sony Ericsson handset users. Upon registration, you will have the additional option of saving their contacts in the SIMSafe application. After agreeing to the terms and conditions of the service, you will receive a text message containing instructions on how to store you contacts.

Contacts can be saved in the app for free within 24 hours of registration. To update the stored contacts, users can visit http://simsafe.ph and sync their phone for just P10.

The Smart SIMSafe service will also allow subscribers who have lost their SIM to report the incident. Using another Smart or Talk ‘N Text number, they can report the incident.

To report a lost SIM or phone, you can text LOSS <password> <lost mobile number> to 7467. You will receive instructions on how to claim their replacement SIM and how to download the saved contacts to their new handset.
