When i visited Bacolod City last April 9, 2012 to witness the Panaad Festival, i took the chance to visit the San Sebastian Cathedral and offer some prayers. It’s been a long time since i left Bacolod, and i can still remember those Sundays where in we go to this church with the family. I am featuring this church as part of my Visita Iglesia blog feature.
The San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City was built in 1876 and founded by Bishop Mariano Cuartero. Fray Mauricio Ferrero, became the first parish priest.
The entrance of the church is composed of three arches. The foundations of this church are coral stones and now wrapped with a thin layered cement. Outside of the church , there are two huge bells known as Centennial Belfry which was built by Sugarlandia Lions Club of Bacolod City.
The San Sebastian Cathedral is situated in front of the Bacolod Public Plaza. If you will have the chance to visit Bacolod City, take time to visit the church.
