Saint Jude Thaddeus Shrine is along the highway of Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City. The shrine is just a few meters away from our place in Olympia Village. Visiting Bacolod will never be complete without going into this place.
I can still remember how this shrine was built, it took almost three years for this shrine to finish with an initial budget of Php 150,000 only. It was just a small chapel located at Olympia Village and Fr. Felix P. Pasquin was the assigned chaplain. Fr. Felix P. Pasquin is so kind to the people of Alijis, he is so close to our family because my late grandmother is a devotee and a member of the church’s organization.
The church was constructed using the people’s resources. Engineer Mario S. Macainan and his brother, Fr. Marcito S. Macainan, MSC, donated the 5,396 square-meter lot; Architect Ramiro L. Garcia, Jr., volunteered for the design of the church, and several donations were gathered and as far as i know some donations were from former President Joseph Estrada who personally attended the inauguration of the church.
Today, St. Jude Thaddeus Shrine continues to attract patrons. For those who don’t know, St. Jude Thaddeus is the patron saint of the hopeless. There are a lot of devotees who offer novena prayers here. There are a lot of people from nearby barangays or with in the city who scheduled for their weddings and baptismal in this shrine. They like the serenity and solemnity of the place.
If you have a chance to visit the shrine, take your time. You will surely love the place. This is another Visita Iglesia Feature on my blog.
